Film Marketing Production Portfolio: Schedule UPDATED January 15th - March 16th

Over the next term you need to complete the following work as part of your Production Portfolio:

 ALL  YOUR RESEARCH WORK NEEDS TO BE PRESENTED VIA A POWERPOINT. YOU MUST EXPLAIN EVER RESEARCH DECISION. TODAY YOU MUST ANSWER ALL THE REFLECTION QUESTIONS
  • Finish the research tasks
  • Decide on the sort of action adventure film you will be making the poster for
  • REFLECTION QUESTION: Why have you chosen this genre/style of film (consider popularity, storylines, action sequence, special effects, star names, awards etc)? What appeals to you about your chosen genre? Which actors do we associate with your genre?
  • Choose a suitable title for your film
  • REFLECTION QUESTION: Is the title of you film similar to any existing films? If so which ones and why? if not, why not? 
  • Decided on a tagline for your title
  • REFLECTION QUESTION: How effective is your tagline? Does your tagline pose a question for the reader? Does it hint at key plot events? Does it mention the star?
  • Write a brief plot outline for your film
  • REFLECTION QUESTION: Does you plot outline explain who the characters are and what motivates them? Does it identify what problem the star must overcome. Does it include lots of hyperbole and exaggeration to make the film seem exciting? If not, go back and improve your plot outline,
  • Create hand drawn mock ups of the teaser and full poster
  • Create A3 Photoshop documents
  • Create layouts
  • Add a suitable background image
  • Add all text including credits
  • Decide on the images that you want to use on your posters and take these original images to add to the poster
Make sure you use the mock up to help with your layout.
Use the posters you researched to help with further ideas.

Deadlines:
The blue planning tasks need to be completed by half term (February 9th)
The orange production tasks need to be completed just before Easter (March 16th)

Stereotype (brief definition): 'a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing'. Are teenagers represented in a fair way in the media? Find a variety of images representing the typical teenager. Is it easy to find positive images or are most of them negative? What are the reasons for this? Research Task: Collect a range of images (at least 10) of teenagers, both positive and negative. Make a mood board or poster using these images. ( use Photoshop ). Print out and stick in your book. The Lego Movie (2014) is a 'tent-pole' film production by media conglomerates Warner Bros. This means that its success was of major importance to the studio in terms of funding other projects. The film was a major motion picture which is expected to generate major income for a studio, which can be redistributed and used to support and find other releases. The film is also an example of how a global studio, like Warner Bros, releases a film in a specific national territory, the UK.
