Film Poster Feedback

Look at these typical Action Adventure posters that are using all of the conventions of the genre. They are designed to appeal to different target audiences depending on which character appears on the poster. As this is a family film, the target audience varies across genders, age and demographics.

Task: You are going to put your own original Action Adventure Film Poster up against a professional poster to evaluate how close your creation is to a real product. Paste them into a landscape Word document. You need to label both the professional poster (you can use one of the images above) and your own with the following:
  • Media Conventions - label all of the elements you would expect to find on a film poster on both the professional poster and you own
  • Action Adventure - label anything that implies the film narrative or genre (look closely at the images and slogan)
  • Media Representation and Audience - using labels, comment on the target audience of the film and your own, explaining how it is clear from the key image, font, colours etc
  • Improvements you could make - you should comment on any areas where you would like to improve your poster based on what you have labelled in today's task
Print out your work and hand in to you teacher by the end of the lesson.
